The Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social (ACMS) is looking for candidates in the position of Women Empowerment and Mobilization Specialists (M/F) to provide services in Ngaoundere and Garoua.
What do we recruiting ?
The Women Empowerment and Mobilization Specialists will provide leadership in coordinating and implementing activities that promote the health and empowerment of pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBFW), particularly related to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and adherence. The specialists will work closely with community health workers, community-based organizations (CBOs), and mother mentors to ensure effective maternal and child health outreach, counseling, referral, and support services. This role will drive engagement efforts at both the community and facility levels, fostering partnerships with key community stakeholders to improve women’s access to healthcare and treatment. They work in partnership with to the Integrated Service Delivery Specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the routine provision of maternal HIV education, counseling, testing, and retesting services for pregnant and breastfeeding women at both the facility and community levels.
- Develop innovative approaches to strengthen the linkage of HIV-positive women to treatment and care services, ensuring continuity of care and improved health outcomes.
- Support and mentor healthcare workers to collaborate with community actors (mother mentors, traditional birth attendants (TBAs), chiefs, CBOs) to identify breastfeeding women in the community who need retesting, facilitating their referral to health facilities for HIV services.
- Foster strong partnerships with community officials, community health workers, opinion leaders, and religious/traditional authorities to promote the referral of pregnant women to health facilities for HIV testing and treatment.
- Mentor and support healthcare workers to pair newly identified HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding women with mother mentors for the first six months of care, focusing on adherence support, retention in care, and education on HIV and maternal health.
- Provide mentorship and support to mother mentors, mother-to-mother peer navigators, and expert clients, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to effectively track and refer pregnant women.
- Organize training and capacity-building initiatives for mother mentors, mother-to-mother peer navigators, and expert clients to enhance their ability to provide adherence support, track PBFW, and assist with HIV prevention activities.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Gender Studies, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community mobilization, women empowerment, or maternal health programs, especially focused on HIV prevention and treatment.
- Experience working with pregnant and breastfeeding women, community health workers, and community-based organizations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration among diverse community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of HIV/AIDS care, maternal and child health, and community-led health initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging community leaders, healthcare providers, and clients.
- Proven track record of managing outreach programs and working with vulnerable populations.
