The Association Camerounaise pour le Marketing Social (ACMS) is looking for candidates in the Facility Doctors (M/F) to provide services in Ngaoundere, Meiganga, Touboro, Guider and Garoua.

 

What do we recruiting ? 

The Facility Doctor will work in partnership with the Integrated Service Delivery Team Lead (ISDTL) to ensure comprehensive HIV care services at the facility level, as part of the CHASAC project. This role involves direct patient care, as well as mentorship and supervision of staff along the HIV care continuum, ensuring full compliance with National Guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for the implementation of differentiated service delivery models, including but not limited to community-based ART distribution, home dispensation, extended or weekend hours for ARV refill services, and multi-month dispensing.
  • Supervise the establishment and strengthening of age-appropriate support groups for PLHIV to ensure continuous access to ART.
  • Support the establishment and operation of peer support groups for caregivers and parents of children and adolescents on ART, ensuring that they are actively engaged in the care process, creating a platform for shared learning and support.
  • Adapt DSD models to the profiles of stable patients and mentor staff on their effective implementation. Ensure that both facility-based and community-based DSD models are tailored to the needs of all supported facilities.
  • Lead targeted cluster training and mentoring sessions for Psychosocial Agents (APS) on case management, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Comprehensive Case Management (CCM) model across supported facilities, focusing on improving case management practices to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Expand the scope of case management services by integrating the use of expert clients, adolescent champions, and peer mentors, particularly for priority populations such as men, children, adolescents, and pregnant and breastfeeding women.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a patient tracking system, incorporating various methods such as phone calls, home visits, and DAMA protocols, to improve patient retention and follow-up.
  • Facilitate monthly retention meetings across all supported facilities to discuss challenges and strategies for maintaining patient engagement in care.
  • Expand the implementation of triage posts at all main entry points for PLHIV on ART, ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Support joint quarterly mentoring sessions with the Regional Technical Groups (RTG) to review progress, share best practices, and address challenges in the implementation of care continuity strategies.
  • Train healthcare workers on HIVDR (HIV Drug Resistance) early warning indicators and ensure that all sites have the necessary tools (e.g., tracking charts) to monitor these indicators.
  • Promote U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) messaging during ART initiation to generate demand for viral load testing and improve patient adherence.
  • Provide technical support for the implementation of a hub-and-spoke referral system for the care and treatment of patients with Advanced HIV Disease (AHD), ensuring streamlined service delivery.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship to healthcare providers on AHD management best practices.
  • Oversee the documentation and reporting of AHD management outcomes in facilities, ensuring services are well documented and data accurately captured and reported on time.
  • Oversee the training of VL (Viral Load) champions for peer education on HIV management and viral load monitoring, ensuring they can effectively communicate key messages to their peers.
  • Support the development and distribution of written materials in multiple languages spoken in the regions to improve health literacy and ensure that all clients have access to relevant information.
  • Facilitate the training of healthcare providers on effective communication strategies and health literacy principles, equipping them to better engage with clients.

 

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Medical Doctor degree or any equivalent in the field of health
  • A Master’s Degree in Public Health is a strong advantage.
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies is required.
  • At least five (3) years of clinical experience in HIV Care and Treatment, including PMTCT and HIV clinical management.
  • In-depth knowledge of and practical experience with health systems in Cameroon.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with public health officials and agencies at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with PEPFAR programs is an asset.
  • Fluency in oral and written French is essential, with a working knowledge of English. Understanding of the Fulbe language will be an added advantage
